As the rain interrupted India vs New Zealand semi-finale at Old Trafford, Manchester yesterday, the two teams await for their fate today at the Reserve Day. As per ICC rules, reserve day is a continuation of match from the previous day and begin right where it is left on the first day.
New Zealand after winning the toss had chosen to bat first. When the showers brought the match to a halt, the Kiwis stood at 211/5 at 46.1 overs. Today, if the weather permits, New Zealand will play its remaining 4.5 overs and India will get the chance to chase.
However, if the rain showers make the conditions unfeasible for a match today, Kohli’s side will have a clear advantage owing to their top rank in the group stages. This will translate into New Zealand’s direct dismissal from the finale race of World Cup 2019.
Interestingly, if the finale gets affected due to rain – which is not very unlikely given England’s weather conditions – the trophy will be shared between the finalists team.
