Abid Ali, the 31-year old Pakistani opener, who is soon to fly to England for the World Cup wishes to meet batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar – Abid’s idol.
“It’s my wish and hope that I meet Sachin Tendulkar,” Abid told a leading publication during a press meet and greet
“I have followed Sachin’s technique from day one of my career and after watching him I tried to play like him,” said the opener who has idolized the Indian batsman from an early age.
Interestingly, Abid is also the same height as Tendulkar and follows quite a similar batting style. While he has a long way to achieve Sachin’s remarkable innings and scores, he has himself performed quite well in his domestic career.
With an impressive 6,700 runs in the domestic matches, Abid scored a century on his international career debut against Australia last year. He now wishes to get a chance to meet Tendulkar during his World Cup debut in England.
“I would like to hug him and I am sure that just like all great players meet youngsters I am sure that he will not turn me down,” said Abid who also looks forward to learn a few tips and techniques from his favorite.
“It will be the best day of my life,” said Abid who eagerly awaits ‘the most memorable day of his life’.
Sweet story. Hopefully it happens. Would be great to see and send a positive message to people of both countries.
