Asian cricket council recently held its meeting in Singapore regarding the Asian cup T20, 2020. The meeting was attended by representatives from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
In the meeting it has been decided that Pakistan will be hosting the next Asian Cup at a neutral venue due to regional and the diplomatic tensions with the neighboring country India.
The previous world cup was hosted by India in UAE due to the same reasons. “We believe that just like we hosted the tournament last year in the UAE, Pakistan should also ideally organize it at a neutral venue,” a senior BCCI official told a publication.
Pakistan will be hosting the Asian cup in September 2020, a month prior to the T20 World cup in Australia. Pakistan previously hosted the tournament in 2008.
Moreover, it was also decided that the sport would be included in the 2022 Asian games which will be held in China.
