Former captain of English team Nasser Hussain spilled some highly optimistic beans of analysis on Pakistan’s World Cup 2019 squad. In his interview with an international media outlet, Nasser called Pakistan’s team ‘unpredictable’ and stated why for this reason one cannot eliminate Pakistan from the strong contenders of the tournament.
“I love them because they are mercurial Pakistan and you wonder which Pakistan will turn up on the day. The fact is that you cannot write off Pakistan for this World Cup,” said the former batsman.
Nasser went on to praise the batting side Of Pakistan which is a combination of young and experienced players. On one hand he commented that Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam can take Pakistan from a competitive score to a good score; on the other he explained how Hafeez and Shoaib Malik’s experience will come in play as the team bats in England’s conditions.
Nasser recalled Fakhar’s century against India in Champions Trophy 2017 final and validated the potential of Pakistan’s batting line-up.
Likewise, Nasser seemed all praise for Pakistan’s bowling side which comprises of young fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Muhammad Hasnain.
“If you can clock 90mph as Mohammad Hasnain and Shaheen Shah Afridi can, then that is the sort of wicket-taking potential that will win this World Cup,” said the English cricketer.
Nasser also seemed optimistic about the combination of Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mickey Arthur at the helm of the team. He said that Sarfaraz is a fighter player and that is why even if Pakistanis are afraid of heart breaks, he himself would not consider Pakistan a weak side. “I love their cricket” said Nasser.
