Pakistan’s former skipper Misbah ul Haq has stepped down from Pakistan Cricket Board’s executive committee, in order to pursue his quest for ‘dream job’, Pakistan’s head coach position.
According to sources, Misbah has already filed his application for the spot, after the executive committee declined to renew former coach Mickey Arthur’s contract.
“I have resigned from the cricket committee and have applied for the post of Pakistan´s head coach,” said Misbah.
Adding further he said, “It is interesting to see my name emerging in the media even before I had applied. I envisage there will be a few more very competent and highly qualified people applying for one of the most challenging jobs in the game.”
Albeit PCB has not yet revealed names of other applicants competing for the spot, the media has reported former Australian batsman Dean Jones and former West Indies paceman Courtney Walsh as the other contenders alongside Misbah.
It is expected that PCB will finalize a new coach for Pakistan team ahead of series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held in Karachi by the end of September.
