Anita, who now holds a 1-1 MMA record, lost her debut battle against the bumper fighter Nereny Crowley after she initially knocked her off with a strike. Crowley spent most of the first round in defense of Anita’s strike but recovered later and won the fight in the second round.
Karim struggles with the fight fortress in Islamabad, which has been selected as the best fitness / training center in Pakistan. Coach Ali Sultan has also been named coach of the year at the first MMA awards ceremony.
MMA is a fairly new sport in Pakistan, but it is still growing at a huge level. Although men are dominated, fighters like Anita open the way for other women to do the sport. She said she wants to show the world that girls can also fight. “I wanted to surpass the stereotypical thinking that the girls are not strong enough.”
