NEW DELHI: Do you think you are the biggest cricket fan, ever? Definitely, not as passionate as Charulata Patel.
This 87-year-old fan stole the limelight with her enthusiasm on Tuesday as India thrashed Bangladesh by 28 runs in Birmingham during the World Cup match.
With a Tricolour scarf wrapped around her neck, the octogenarian fan was seen blowing a yellow vuvuzela (trumpet) and cheering for the home team with India flag.
And, the best part of it all was Kohli’s attention.
He took to social media to thank his dedicated fan, and sought her blessings for the next match.
“Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She’s 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I’ve ever seen. Age is just a number, the passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one,” Kohli tweeted.
Moreover, Rohit Sharma, the Man of the Match, also thanked her after the team’s victory.
With the victory against Bangladesh, India have sealed their semi-final spot as they have now 13 points and consolidated their second position on the points table.
India will now compete against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
