Veteran John Williams a cricket umpire is in a coma after he was hit on the head by a ball.
Veteran John Williams, 80, secretary of Hundleton County Cricket Club, had been officiating the Pembroke v Narbeth Division Two game on Saturday.
He was treated at the scene by the ambulance service and then flown a hundred miles away to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
At the hospital Mr Williams was placed in an induced coma.
A spokesman for the Pembroke club said the game was stopped after the incident.
They said: “I’m sure all of Pembrokeshire Cricket would like to join us in sending our best wishes to John and we all hope he has a speedy recovery.”
A spokesperson from Wales Air Ambulance said they arrived to treated Mr Williams at the scene before flying to hospital.
